Jörgen van Rijen-Only dead fish drift with the stream

Brand new program by Dutch star trombonist Jörgen van Rijen. Argentinian artist and filmmaker Miguel Angel Rios creates symbolic stories about the human experience. His work can be seen in major museums around the world, such as the MoMa in New York, Röda Sten Konsthall in Gothenburg, Galería Barro in Buenos Aires and MUCEM in Marseille. Rios made videos in which power versus powerlessness and the mechanics of power are an essential theme. These videos form the basis for the brand new program by Dutch star trombonist Jörgen van Rijen: ‘Only dead fish drift with the stream’. Each of the videos is a statement of only 4 to 5 minutes that challenges the viewer to think about the theme of power. Rios leaves it up to the viewer whether he or she identifies most with the powerful or with the vulnerable. The new music surrounding Rios' work creates reflection time for the audience and increases the impact. The music was written by three different composers: Angelica Négron (PR), Daniel Kidane (UK), Florian Maier (NL/DE).
