Meerkat

The young Utrecht-based band MEERKAT is completely in tune with contemporary eclectic 
jazz that is currently echoing from cities such as London and Chicago. Think of names like 
Makaya McCraven and Yussef Kamaal. The members started out playing covers because of 
their shared love for this music but nowadays their focus is on original material. Their mix of 
jazz, funk and hip hop can sound subtle, but also ruthlessly groovy and stimulates both the 
head and the body (especially the legs). 

In 2022 MEERKAT released their debut EP 'What's the Rush'.
Since then, there have been two changes in the lineup. With the addition of Hugo Hinkel on 
drums and Chiel van Rijn on bass, the band is musically stronger than ever. 

In early October 2023, they recorded three singles in this brand-new lineup, which will be 
released over the coming months
