Songs about family secrets, denial, addiction, and racial themes

Rose Spearman has had a eventful career: from winning a European Border Breakers Award, to performing at festivals like Lowlands, North Sea Jazz, Glastonbury, and Sziget, to being the lead singer for Kraak & Smaak, and being the only Dutch singer to perform on Jimmy Kimmel. Her soulful sound, incorporating deep electronic and acoustic grooves, solid bass lines, and powerful harmonies, creates an authentic vocal style.

The album "King of Air" is about the emotional journey back to the U.S., where Rose's father, Glenn Spearman, originated from. He was a jazz musician who recorded numerous albums but passed away at a young age. Her absent father, both emotionally and in distance, permanently returned to the U.S. when Rose was only four years old, but he now serves as a major inspiration for many of the songs on this album.

From her early childhood, the singer has felt caught between two continents. Half European, half American, and always in search of a sense of home. The album contains songs about lost love, but perhaps even more so about losing oneself. The prejudices faced by being born with an Afro-American, Jewish, and Dutch background.

Expect beautiful soul and R&B!
