Sanem Kalfa

A newly formed quartet, "Miraculous Layers" led by vocalist and cellist Sanem Kalfa, with an unusual instrumentation such as prepared piano, cello, synths, electronics and drums. 

In her group, Miraculous Layers, Kalfa unites with three strong artistic forces: Tineke Postma on alto saxophone, Marta Warelis on piano, and Sun-Mi Hong on drums, presenting new music in a project which unlocks stories speaking to audiences’ imagination.

Sanem Kalfa is a Turkish vocalist, cellist, and composer with a distinctive style, blending jazz, improvisation, and world music into a powerful mix of emotions. Her impressive vocal technique is accompanied by an emotionally liberated spirit in her musical performances, delving into the depths of the human soul. With her group MIRACULOUS LAYERS, she has demonstrated the ability to traverse and balance a wide range of human emotions, desires, fears, and delights, all conveyed through the human voice. Reactions and reviews describe it as a captivating and poignant externalization of the inner emotional journey experienced by individuals.
