Henri Demarquette and Victor Demarquette

Cellist Henri Demarquette is renowned for his distinctive musical personality and international career. At a young age, he caught the attention of Yehudi Menuhin, who invited him to perform Dvořák’s Cello Concerto under his direction in Prague and Paris. He studied in Paris and worked with, among others, Paul Tortelier. He plays the ‘Le Vaslin’, a Stradivarius cello dating from 1725, generously loaned to him by LVMH Moët Hennessy.

Together with his son, pianist Victor Demarquette, he presents a programme centred on intense musical interplay. Works by Beethoven, Cyprien Lengagne and Brahms reveal how cello and piano complement and amplify one another in expression and character.
