The Berlin-based Afro-Jazz group was formed in the late 2020s by Yannick Nolting (bass, producer) and Eric Owusu (vocals, percussion). They met by chance when they were both at the same playground in Berlin with their son. Soon they realized they had something special on their hands.
After searching for the right companions, they found some of Berlin's best musicians, and eventually formed Jembaa Groove.

Jembaa Groove combines Berlin's emerging underground scene with 70s Highlife and contemporary sounds from Ghana. The music is influenced by soulful rhythms and baritone chords of 70s black America.

Previously they performed for large audiences at Fusion, Xjazz, SXSW and ESNS Festival. Now with new music in the pipeline, a new tour is planned in which they will play at de Doelen, among other venues. Here they will also perform their music.
