In the days leading up to Christmas, Beethoven brings us a vision of a better world in which all people live in brotherly coexistence. That same dream sings about Vaughan Williams' Serenade to Music, an ode to the healing power of music. At the premiere, on the eve of World War II, the audience was moved to tears. Peace on earth: also in this time we need everything that gives wings to that thought.
