Marble has been used extensively in construction and art in De Doelen. In this episode we discuss 3 large marble works, namely those by Frank Nix ('Marble relief'), Bouke IJlstra ('Intarsia') and Wally Elenbaas. ('Intarsia marble'). And we hear about the important role that the Rotterdam Marble Industry (RMI) played in the acquisition of one of the works.
Stijn Kemper, program maker for Belvedere Verhalenhuis and Boijmans Zuid, joins us to talk about the work and life in Katendrecht of Wally Elenbaas and his wife, the photographer Eva Hartog.
