The Orchestra of the Eighteenth Century performs Handel’s Messiah in Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart’s arrangement. In this version, the famous oratorio takes on a different colour, with its Baroque lines enriched by a Classical orchestral palette. Mozart’s arrangement preserves the immediacy and expressive power of Handel’s music while adding greater contrast and transparency. Familiar choruses and arias are thus heard in a new light, with a focus on detail, expression and dramatic intensity.
