The Laureates Concert of Piano Festival Rotterdam presents young prizewinners who stand out for their individual style, stage presence and musicality. The repertoire is very diverse: alongside masterpieces such as Grieg's piano concerto, newer works by e.g. Florence Price, Ilan Bedner and Art Zegelaar are performed*. Some laureates perform solo piano in the pre-concert programme at 19:00, while others are accompanied by the Festival Orchestra under the direction of conductor Arne Visser, in the Main Programme at 20:15.
The concert is not only the conclusion of the festival in 2025, which took place in Rotterdam South. The laureates attended masterclasses with Ralph van Raat and Nino Gvedatze in October, and can now bring even more depth to their interpretations. In short: it promises to be a fascinating evening, with new scores, young creators and plenty of beautiful piano music.
*Art Zegelaar is not only a composer, but also a piano teacher and the festival organiser. Special thanks go to the partners of this festival: Codarts Rotterdam, the Rotterdam Philharmonic Orchestra and De Doelen Rotterdam.
