John Hiatt is one of the most respected singer-songwriters in the United States. With a career spanning more than fifty years, he has left a lasting mark on Americana, roots and blues. During this exclusive farewell tour, Hiatt will bid farewell to the live stage. This concert at De Doelen is therefore a unique and final opportunity to experience him live one more time.

Since his breakthrough with Bring the Family in 1987, recorded with Ry Cooder and Nick Lowe, among others, Hiatt has grown into a songwriter of exceptional calibre. His songs have been performed by artists such as Bonnie Raitt, Eric Clapton, Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris and B.B. King. Clapton and King's album Riding With the King, featuring a title track by Hiatt, won a Grammy.

In the decades that followed, Hiatt continued to develop with a series of highly acclaimed albums combining soul, blues, folk and roots rock. Themes such as loss, resilience, ageing and hope are a constant, always delivered with humour, sharpness and humanity. Recent work, including collaborations with Jerry Douglas, shows that his songwriting has lost none of its expressiveness.

In addition to his own work, Hiatt has been honoured with a place in the Nashville Songwriters Hall of Fame and several lifetime achievement awards. He continues to write, record and tour from his home near Nashville. Live, John Hiatt guarantees an evening of powerful songs, lived-in stories and a voice that has been through it all.
