Fazıl Say is known for his personal and free-spirited approach to the classical repertoire. Together with the Mozarteumorchester Salzburg, he turns his attention to Mozart’s Piano Concerto No. 23, a work in which lightness and melancholy exist side by side. Here, Mozart reveals an intimate, almost chamber-music-like side of the piano concerto, leaving room for nuance and emotional depth. In Say’s interpretation, this music takes on a distinctive character, in which refinement and expressiveness reinforce one another.
