Beethovens Negende

Rotterdams Philharmonisch Orkest

All humanity is united: Beethoven’s hope in dark times.

In the days leading up to Christmas, this concert offers a glimpse of a better world in which everyone lives together in peace. Two centuries after its completion, Beethoven’s Ninth remains an unsurpassed masterpiece of humanity, with Pärt’s contemplative ‘Fratres’ (‘brothers’) serving as a contemporary introduction. All of humanity is united: at this very time, we need everything that gives wings to that hopeful thought.
