Aynur is one of the most prominent voices in contemporary Kurdish music. For 25 years, she has combined traditions from Kurdish folk music with contemporary influences. Through her expressive voice, she brings the cultural heritage of her roots together with a musical language in which tradition and modern influences meet.
Over the years, Aynur has collaborated with musicians and ensembles including Yo-Yo Ma and the Silk Road Ensemble, Riccardo Muti, Kayhan Kalhor, Javier Limón, Kinan Azmeh, the Netherlands Wind Ensemble and the NDR Big Band.
On her eighth studio album RABE, Aynur brings together ancient Kurdish music, bardic songs and poetry with influences from Western classical music, jazz and pop. Nearly twenty musicians contributed to the album, which reached number one on the Transglobal World Music Charts.
On Friday 16 April 2027, Aynur performs at the Jurriaanse Zaal at de Doelen.
