Hometown Selector at Blendd: doo-bop
Rotterdam is doo-bop's home and an endless source of inspiration. The city's raw, dark and industrial character, combined with its rich musical diaspora, forms the foundation of his eclectic sound. Whether he's closing out a basement club with the grittier side of his record collection, digging deep into dark italo, mutant machine funk, early rave and ESP Records style house and techno, layered with analogue synths and raw basslines, or performing an eight hour all vinyl journey as The Low G Court alongside DJ Klapsalon, one thing remains constant: an instinctive approach to storytelling through music. Seamlessly blending electronic and organic sounds, his sets are built for maximum impact on the dance floor.
For doo-bop, however, the connection with the audience always comes first. His sets are a continuous push and pull between comfort and confrontation, driven by the infectious energy that comes with playing vinyl only. With over ten years of experience as a DJ, curator and host, an extensive record collection spanning everything from breakbeat to Bollywood and progressive house to post punk, and performances at venues and festivals including Poing, Skatecafé, Perron, NAR, murmur, Onda, Fréquence (France), Wildeburg, Down The Rabbit Hole, Tragin (Austria), Blijdorp Festival and North Sea Jazz, doo-bop has firmly established himself as one of the Netherlands' most exciting selectors.
