The Space Choir - Benefietconcert

With 500 Rotterdam-based members, The Space Choir presents four special benefit concerts at de Doelen. For this winter edition, the audience embarks on a musical journey through the building together with one of the four Rotterdam Space Choir groups. Along the way, they perform in different locations with guest artists Jeangu Macrooy, KYARA and a special guest.

For these concerts, The Space Choir takes a different approach from its usual performances. Instead of an accompanying band and uptempo songs, the choir creates an intimate, acoustic atmosphere. At times the choir takes centre stage; elsewhere it becomes the backing choir for the guest artists. The three Rotterdam conductors also contribute to the programme with their own projects KUZKO, Sophia Habib and Huize Lucas.

Fun, groove and inclusion are at the heart of The Space Choir. Experienced and inexperienced singers, people in their twenties and retirees, and members of the queer community all sing side by side with well-known Dutch artists.

All proceeds from ticket sales go to Stichting De Vrolijkheid, which provides cultural education for children living in asylum centres, and Trans United Europe, which works for the rights and acceptance of trans people. After the concert, there is an opportunity to enjoy mulled wine in the foyer.

There are various concert routes: 18:10 = Round 1 (Monday group 1); 18:50 = Round 2 (Monday group 2); 19:30 = Round 3 (Tuesday group); 20:20 = Round 4 (Wednesday group).

Please note: unfortunately, this concert is not accessible to people with limited mobility.
