Laat me, Pastorale and Shaffy Cantate are just a few examples from the rich repertoire of Ramses Shaffy and Liesbeth List. The new theatre concert ‘Laat me’ is an intense and captivating tribute to both artists. Vocalists Pim Muda and Sabine Krol perform the famous repertoire with verve, accompanied by a live orchestra that includes a string ensemble. It is a show full of longing, freedom, surrender and humour.

Ramses Shaffy and Liesbeth List are part of Dutch cultural heritage. Their stirring songs have touched the hearts of millions. These Dutch chansons are full of comfort, nostalgia and melancholy, and that combination makes the repertoire instantly recognisable. That is reason enough for a theatrical tribute to both artists. Peter Groot Kormelink has created a show that does justice to the power and quality of both the songs and the legendary singers.

Pim Muda sings Shaffy: raw, tender, rebellious and soulful, with a voice that can whisper and explode. Looking the audience straight in the eye, he draws them into the passion of a man who always gave everything: in love, in the night and on stage. Sabine Krol performs Liesbeth List with the clarity and emotional strength that made her Shaffy’s perfect counterpart. Where he spreads out, she focuses. Where he storms, she lets the silence speak. Their duets rekindle the rare tension that makes a song unforgettable. The show is named after Shaffy’s legendary double LP. It follows the flow of classics such as Laat me, Pastorale, Zing, vecht, huil, bid, lach and Shaffy Cantate, with theatrical moments that shed new light on what lies behind the music and the lyrics.

About Ramses Shaffy & Liesbeth List

Liesbeth List and Ramses Shaffy are inextricably linked to Dutch music history. Their collaboration in the 1960s and 1970s produced a unique blend of emotion, poetry and musicality. Shaffy was known for his raw, expressive style and his urge for freedom. List brought a refined, sensitive interpretation that gave his work an extra dimension. Together, they raised the Dutch levenslied to a higher artistic level. Their performances were intense and sincere, often balancing between melancholy and zest for life. The contrast between their personalities was striking, which made their collaboration all the more special. Shaffy lived a turbulent, uncompromising life, while List was known for her discipline and craftsmanship. Their repertoire remains relevant today. New generations are discovering their songs and recognising the universal themes of love, loss and longing. These themes also play a prominent role in ‘Laat me’. The theatre concert is a fitting tribute to Shaffy and List that fills the audience’s hearts with warmth and nostalgia.
