Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir

With the Estonian Philharmonic Chamber Choir and conductor Tõnu Kaljuste, one of Europe’s leading vocal ensembles takes the stage. This a cappella program features music in which the human voice takes on a different role each time:: ritualistic, expressive, narrative and contemplative. Frank Martin’s Mass for Double Choir provides a richly layered starting point, with voices interacting through complex musical patterns.

Contrasting with this are the direct expressive power of Philip Glass and the theatrical incisiveness of Luciano Berio. Works by Evelin Seppar and Veljo Tormis bring a distinctive Baltic perspective, while Arvo Pärt’s Which Was the Son of… creates space for concentration and silence.
