On Friday 27 March, Codarts Conservatory presents the Orchestra Festival at de Doelen – an evening to wander, listen and discover new music.
In the Grote Zaal, the Codarts Wind Band opens the festival in collaboration with the Marinierskapel der Koninklijke Marine, conducted by Erik van de Kolk. Students and professional musicians join forces to form one wind orchestra.
After that, the Codarts String Orchestra, led by Gordan Nikolić, performs a program that grows in depth the longer you listen.
Later in the evening, the Global Musics Silk Road Ensemble will take the stage with repertoire rooted along the historic Silk Road.
The festival concludes back in the Grote Zaal with the Codarts Pop Orchestra conducted by Ronald Kool. Expect a set of original works and student arrangements, performed with the energy fitting a festival finale.
Whether you are curious about new styles or simply in the mood for an evening of great live music, you are warmly welcome. Admission is free.
