Duo: Pianist Paul Tintelnot & Saxophonist Max Pöpsel
Paul Tintelnot (piano) and Max Pöpsel (saxophone) bring their long history of playing together into this jazz duo shaped by flow and intuition. Through their improvisation, they embrace risk and unpredictability, allowing each piece to develop differently every time. Their music feels like an ongoing dialogue, exploring familiar material and original compositions in a responsive, continually evolving way.
The two musicians met at the beginning of their studies in Hannover, where they quickly discovered a shared musical language as well as a strong personal connection. Since then, they have collaborated in a wide range of projects, continuously deepening their musical bond. Their path eventually led them to Codarts Rotterdam, where they are currently continuing their studies.
Inspired by duos such as Brad Mehldau and Joshua Redman, they decided to further explore their interplay and start a duo project of their own. The minimalistic setting provides them with a vast variety of options through which they constantly have to find their own pathway. Their performances invite the audience to follow an ever-changing, spontanious musical journey.
