Catching Cultures Orchestra returns with its very own festival!

On 6 April, experience this Utrecht based orchestra, featuring musicians from all corners of the world. The traditions they bring with them are blended more innovatively than ever into a forward looking, intercultural programme. Arabic, Nigerian, Kurdish, Zimbabwean, Chinese, and Latin American pieces are reimagined in new arrangements, and this edition will once again present several original compositions in which traditions are more deeply intertwined than ever before.

About Catching Cultures:

Catching Cultures is an intercultural collective based in Utrecht. Our organisation, made up of engaged musicians from diverse cultural backgrounds, particularly newcomers, creates high quality intercultural musical programmes for a broad and diverse audience.

The orchestra forms the core and consists of around 25 musicians with different backgrounds. This core group includes Syrian, Chinese, Kurdish, Nigerian, Iraqi, Nepalese, Palestinian, Venezuelan, and Dutch musicians. Among them are several renowned professionals, ambitious semi professionals, and enthusiastic amateurs of all ages, genders, and orientations. Guest musicians, crew members, substitutes, arrangers, and composers have roots in Ukraine, Morocco, Turkey, Latvia, and Jordan. We are proud of our unique mix of musicians and collaborators.
