His virtuoso playing and characteristic mix of jazz, Latin fusion, rock and world music make him a pioneer on the international music scene. With his distinctive combination of technical precision, rhythmic sharpness and lyrical melodies, Di Meola has built up an impressive oeuvre, including more than thirty solo albums and collaborations with greats such as Chick Corea, Paco de Lucía, John McLaughlin, Paul Simon and Luciano Pavarotti.
He has won a Grammy Award, been nominated several times and received prestigious awards such as the Miles Davis Award (Montreal Jazz Festival), a Lifetime Achievement Award from the BBC, and an Honorary Doctorate from Berklee College of Music. He has also been honoured twelve times by Guitar Player Magazine and inducted into their Gallery of Greats.
Di Meola's influence extends from jazz lovers to guitar enthusiasts worldwide. He excelled as a member of Return to Forever and in the legendary Guitar Trio, but continues to innovate to this day with personal, melodic compositions.
