Kneebody is a genre-transcending quartet from Los Angeles that has occupied its own place in the contemporary music world since 2001. Their sound is a potent blend of the energy of rock, the complexity of chamber music and the freedom of jazz improvisation. With roots in both the classical tradition and the underground scene, Kneebody forms a collective in which experimentation and precision blend seamlessly.

The band consists of keyboardist Adam Benjamin, trumpeter Shane Endsley, saxophonist Ben Wendel and Nate Wood, who, as a multi-instrumentalist, plays both bass and drums simultaneously - live and in the studio. Their musical collaboration began at an early age at the Eastman School of Music and CalArts, and grew into a long-standing, creative unit that is hard to compare to anything or anyone else.

Over the years, Kneebody developed a recognizable but always evolving style, influenced by everything from 60's free-bop and 70's jazz rock to 90's hip-hop and contemporary indie music. Their compositions are layered and rhythmically challenging, but always focused on mutual interaction and collective sound.

With an impressive string of collaborations, a Grammy nomination and a constant drive to innovate, Kneebody continues to push boundaries. 2025 sees the release of Reach - an album that puts their close-knit interplay and adventurous spirit back on the cutting edge.
