Nel Ponsaers and Rahmat Emonds are vocalists in THE SWOON, SKC’s energetic backing band that released the album Be(e) Who You Wanna Be(e) in 2024. With this formation, SKC surprised audiences and critics alike with vibrant, funky live shows full of groove and colour. While the band continues to work on new material, SKC remains devoted to his love for the storytelling song.

For the project THE POEM, SKC joins forces with Nel and Rahmat to present new work as well as reimagined songs from his rich repertoire, complemented by gems from the timeless tradition of the singer-songwriter. Their vocal harmonies form the heart of the album, where poetry, literature and music merge seamlessly. The three voices: SKC’s smoky tenor, Nel’s velvety alto and Rahmat’s soulful soprano blend beautifully, each bringing a distinct perspective and emotion to the songs.

Musically, SKC stays true to his fascination with instruments and sound. Using guitars, basses, small organs, analogue synths and inventive percussion, he creates a refined, adventurous sound that feels both intimate and emotionally rich. THE POEM will be released on 5 October 2025 on Starman Records.
