de Doelen Studio becomes Studio Blendd at de Doelen!
We’ll be sharing more details soon, but here’s a brief overview of what this means for the programme. We’re about to launch something special: Studio Blendd at de Doelen will become an all day listening bar with a programme curated by de Doelen. We open on 18 June with the festive first edition of the Newport Jazz Sessions. In addition, Vinyl Sessions will take place every Friday. Drop by and keep an eye on blendd.nl for updates.
About Gijs Idema and Anna Serierse
Edison Award nominees and rising stars Gijs Idema and vocalist Anna Serierse bring a contemporary take on jazz through their warm, layered sound and remarkable musical chemistry. Their performances combine improvisation, intimacy and storytelling in a way that feels both fresh and deeply personal.
Drawing from a diverse repertoire of original compositions, many of them written together, Idema and Serierse also apply their distinctive musical approach to works by artists such as Billy Strayhorn, Chico Buarque and Gabriel Fauré. Over the past years, they have performed both as a duo and with the Idema/Serierse Quartet at venues including Bimhuis, LantarenVenster and TivoliVredenburg, as well as festivals such as North Sea Jazz Festival, Wonderfeel and Grachtenfestival.

With Newport Jazz Sessions, de Doelen brings leading voices from the Dutch jazz scene to Studio Blendd at de Doelen every month. From Edison Award winners to artists pushing the boundaries of the genre, these intimate duo and trio performances offer a close up experience of jazz that is adventurous, personal and entirely in the moment.
The artists in this series perform at venues such as North Sea Jazz and international festivals, but here they return to the power of the small setting. Studio Blendd at de Doelen becomes a place where improvisation, musical interaction and artistry take centre stage. A place where Rotterdam’s rich jazz heritage can be felt, while making room for the sounds of today and tomorrow.
