CELEBRATE WITH US
On Saturday evening, 22 November 2025, Concertgebouw de Doelen will celebrate Suriname's 50th Independence Day with a unique and one-off Sranan Poku Concert, full of iconic songs and surprising interpretations, which will express the bond between Suriname and the Netherlands.
This concert is historic. Fifty years ago, on Easter Sunday, 30 March, the first Surinamese cultural event took place in De Doelen on the road to 25 November 1975. The then Surinamese Prime Minister Henck Arron attended this major event.
WHO IS WORKING ON THIS UNIQUE CONCERT?
This evening is, of course, a musical journey through 50 years of Suriname, in which Surinamese artists from the Netherlands and Surinamese artists from all ethnic groups will perform songs that have remained popular for generations and have become part of the Surinamese identity.
