Online Lunchbreak met Geert Bierling
Als stadsorganist van Rotterdam is Geert Bierling de vaste bespeler van het Doelenorgel. Het orgel dateert uit 1968, is gebouwd door de firma Flentrop en is één van de bekendste concertorgels van ons land. Bierling doet naast zijn rol als uitvoerend musicus onderzoek naar de achttiende-eeuwse klaviertranscripties rondom o.a. Bach en Händel. Zij mochten daarom niet ontbreken in deze lunchbreak en klinken samen met hun minder bekende tijdgenoten Cimarosa en Fiocco.
As Rotterdam’s city organist, Geert Bierling knows the Doelen organ better than anyone. The organ dates from 1968, was built by the company Flentrop, and is one of the country’s most famous concert organs. In addition to his role as a performing musician, Bierling conducts research on the 18th century harpsichord transcriptions of compositions by Bach and Handel, both of whose works we will be hearing during the lunch break concert, in addition to lesser-known contemporaries Cimarosa and Fiocco.
