Port of Rotterdam has extended its sponsorship partnership with de Doelen for another three years. With this continuation, both organisations reaffirm their confidence in Rotterdam’s cultural strength and in the role that music, art and encounter play in an open, international and connected city.

A shared connection to Rotterdam

The partnership between Port of Rotterdam and de Doelen is rooted in a shared connection to the city. While the Port of Rotterdam connects the city economically and physically to the world, de Doelen has fulfilled a cultural and social role for more than sixty years as a place for music, encounter, artistic development and dialogue.

From internationally renowned musicians to local talent, from conferences and education to social initiatives: every day, de Doelen brings together different generations, perspectives and communities. In doing so, the concert and congress venue contributes to both the cultural profile and the attractiveness of Rotterdam.

Investing in connection and talent development

The renewed partnership will allow further investment in talent development, educational projects, innovative programming and the preservation of the iconic national monument.

At the same time, the collaboration supports de Doelen’s ambition to be a place where more and more Rotterdam residents and visitors feel welcome and represented, regardless of background, age or musical preference. It also creates room for programmes that respond to current social and cultural developments in the city and beyond.

In this way, de Doelen continues to be a cultural meeting place where international ambition and local roots come together.

De Doelen is an icon for Rotterdam and plays an important role in the city’s cultural life. De Doelen continues to reach an increasingly broad and diverse audience. With this contract extension, we are investing not only in culture, but also in the vibrancy and appeal of the city. We are proud to continue this partnership together with de Doelen.
- Richard van der Eijk, Head of Communications & External Affairs at Port of Rotterdam

The collaboration with Port of Rotterdam is very valuable to de Doelen and feels entirely natural. The port connects Rotterdam with the world every day; de Doelen has been doing the same for sixty years through music, culture, conferences and encounter. Together, we tell the story of a city that thinks internationally, is deeply rooted in its community and continues to look ahead.
- Edo Righini, Managing Director of de Doelen
