Jim van de Klundert
Jim van de Klundert (1998) is a Dutch jazz guitarist & composer with an authentic, lyrical style rooted in the jazz tradition.
His love for music began at the age of twelve, when he became captivated by the playing of a fingerstyle guitarist. His passion for jazz emerged a few years later, when he first heard the music of Django Reinhardt. This opened the door to the great figures in jazz history. Saxophonist John Coltrane in particular made a deep impression on him and remains a major source of inspiration to this day.
During his early years as a musician, he won the Seabottom Jazz Talent Prize two years in a row and performed at the festival of the same name in 2016 and 2017. He graduated from several conservatories in the Netherlands, including ArtEZ (Zwolle), the Royal Conservatoire (The Hague) and Codarts (Rotterdam).
His debut album ‘Ease’ was released in 2023, and his second album will be released in 2026. His free-flowing compositions, characterised by memorable musical motifs, melancholic depth and a strong sense of groove, reflect his own artistic vision: a continuous search for balance between freedom and structure.
Jim has performed with renowned Dutch jazz musicians and can also be heard on ‘Steps Forward’ (ft. Rob van Bavel & Eric Ineke) and ‘Something Different’ (Stick to Sticks Project).
