Described by Gramophone as a “forward thinking ensemble”, Her Ensemble merges classical and contemporary worlds through genre-fluid programming to platform music written by women throughout history, offering an unapologetically fresh perspective. Formed in response to the statistic that: in 2019, just 3.6% of classical music performed worldwide was composed by women, Her Ensemble brings together some of the most sought-after musicians from the British orchestral and chamber music scenes. With a groundbreaking mix of works, from Hildegard von Bingen to Alma Mahler, and artistic lighting, they are redefining the classical concert experience.

Her Ensemble
Her Ensemble is a free-form group described by Gramophone as “forward-thinking” and by
Classical Music Magazine as “a group on their own terms.” Founded by violinist Ellie Consta in
2020, the ensemble was created in response to the stark underrepresentation of music by women in
classical programming. Blending classical and contemporary worlds, they spotlight overlooked
composers and approach all music with curiosity and openness. They’ve released an EP with Sony
Classical, performed to a sold-out Musikverein Vienna, recorded for Netflix, and collaborated with
artists such as Billie Marten. Her Ensemble is about rewriting the rules—and making space for new
voices to be heard.
