1 | Salon der Rotterdamse Kunstenaars 1966/2024
This exhibition was a tribute to the first exhibition in 1966, where 18 artists exhibited, including only one woman. In the new exhibition you saw works by those artists and those of 18 young Rotterdam talents, where the distribution is reversed: 17 women and one man.
2 | Lavart no.17: Waiting for you
Herman Lamers and Yvo van der Vat presented their latest installation, a work of art that can be admired from outside and turns the street into an interactive work of art. This exhibition, specially designed for de Doelen Art, had music as its theme, which fits perfectly with our concert hall.
3 | Kunstambassade Rotterdam Presents!
A special exhibition with works by more than 40 Rotterdam artists. The Kunstambassade brings visual artists from Rotterdam together and creates connection with art lovers, both through physical exhibitions and the virtual studio.
4 | CROON - MENDES - RUSCHE
De Doelen proudly presents an exhibition featuring Anuli Croon, Sandim Mendes, and Christine Rusche. It is no coincidence that these commissions were awarded to female artists; with this, De Doelen aims to bring balance to its art collection, which until now has primarily consisted of works by male artists. This exhibition celebrates diversity and showcases the powerful impact of female perspectives in the art world.
5 | Kunstuitleen Rotterdam celebrates 50 years
Kunstuitleen Rotterdam celebrated its anniversary in the Doelen Art! Since 1975, the art rental has been bringing art closer to the people, with a collection full of unique works that everyone can rent. From pop art and photography to abstract paintings – there is something for everyone. Hundreds of Rotterdam residents and companies give their space extra character with a work of art of their choice, without immediately spending a large amount. A party for art lovers and an ode to accessibility!
7 | schaduw van een wolk
This group exhibition, curated by Herman Lamers, showed work by five artists who depict their lives in the city through film, objects, photography and installations. In various visual languages they created theatrical stagings that invite reflection and imagination.
9 | Rotterdam Popstad
The exhibition brought seventy years of Rotterdam pop culture to life with photos, music and memorabilia, based on the book of the same name Rotterdam Popstad. Visitors were taken on a musical and visual journey along iconic acts, underground scenes and legendary concerts.
