plan your visit
De Doelen finally opens its doors again! Before the end of season 2020-2021, there are a few more events scheduled for you to experience. In addition, the pop-up listening terrace in de Doelen Studio is still up and running till the end of July.
In recent months, we have worked with heart and soul to turn our venues into COVID-safe spaces; and we have succeeded! As a result, de Doelen is considered as 'very safe' by the Safety Region. Still, maintaining the 1.5-meter distance has consequences for the enforceability and feasibility of events.
- In addition to the conventional cleaning routine, de Doelen provides intensive sanitation in all areas
- Hand sanitizer at each entrance
- No public access to the checkroom to avoid direct contact as much as possible
- Employees ready to escort audiences while entering and leaving the concert halls
- A limited number of visitors in the corridors and halls
- Limited seating to maintain a 1.5-meter society
- Supplementary indoor signage
Enforcing the 1.5-meter distance measure influences the enforceability and feasibility of hosted events. Read below about why we have had to postpone or withdraw many concerts in season 2020-2021.
limitations on stage and in the halls
The concert must be feasible while considering the 1.5-meter norm. Some limitations on stage and in the halls accompanying the current state of affairs are a maximum number of artists allowed on stage. As well as a significantly lower number of visitors inside the concert halls.
Due to the current situation, de Doelen has been compelled to cancel several classical concerts in its programming. These concerts are sadly no longer financially feasible. Nevertheless, many other shows can still take place. Currently, we are working vigorously with ensembles and orchestras affiliated with the NAPK (Dutch Association for Performing Arts) to find a suitable solution. Additionally, several concerts based on partnerships will still take place.
Concerts featuring international artists have been canceled due to potential travel restrictions, high costs, and limited seating in the prevailing 1.5-meter arrangement of the concert halls.
safety for all
To ensure a safe visit for everyone, we ask the following:
- Be mindful of bringing a face mask protection with you to the venue.
- Please stay home (this also includes your household) and contact the box office by email if you present with COVID-19 or cold symptoms, such as (mild) fever, shortness of breath, sore throat, etc.
- Check the email for the latest information on the guidelines.
De Doelen is located in the heart of Rotterdam, within a short walking distance of Rotterdam CS, as well as several streetcar lines, subway and bus stops. In addition, around de Doelen there are various parking facilities available.

To buy tickets online, you need to create a personal account. After that, payments can be made by credit card (Visa or MasterCard) or iDeal. It is not necessary to print an e-ticket – you can show the ticket on a smartphone upon entry.
For concerts, we ask everyone to keep their tickets ready upon entry. The bars are open before the show and close 10 minutes before the start. We also ask everyone to take into account the measures concerning COVID-19.
A drink (coffee, tea, soft drinks, beer, or wine) is included in the ticket for many concerts. This arrangement does not apply to shows by external organizers such as Hanson's Sunday morning concerts. If a beverage is included, it will be mentioned on the ticket.
There are restrooms on each floor of the venue.
The checkroom is closed until further notice. Visitors can take their coats and bags into the concert halls. However, larger bags (larger than A4 size) are not allowed into the venue. Once the checkroom reopens, it will remain a complimentary service.

The Doelen Shop at Schouwburgplein 50 is the place to be for the best musical gifts and popular Rotterdam products.
There may be short queues to enter the venue. If you cannot stand in line or need assistance, you can ask for help at the Box Office and take a seat at the reading table.
We welcome wheelchair users and guide dogs.
