The Trinidad-born Jeanine de Bique has rapidly become the new star soprano of today’s Baroque scene.

‘Rapid glissandos, long phrases, huge intervals: soprano Jeanine de Bique makes it all sounds effortless.’ The main part of this program consists of Handel’s arias, but Jeanine de Bique easily weaves in some of her Caribbean background by adding a few traditional folk songs. Leave it to Holland Baroque to stylishly tie those two genres together.

Holland Baroque and Jeanine de Bique first collaborated in an episode of Podium Witteman. ‘A magical encounter.’ Meanwhile, De Bique’s star is still ascendant: she is performing in the most prestigious opera houses, sharing the stage with big names like Iván Fischer, Gustavo Dudamel, Herbert Blomstedt, and Martin Fröst.
