A tradition of over a hundred years old. St. Matthew Passion performances by the Netherlands Bach Society are yearly highlight. This year, the tradition will be continued under the direction of Johanna Soller, star conductor on the rise.

The relatively young German conductor – who also plays the harpsichord and organ – is believed to be one of the most promising new artists in early and Baroque music. She is also founder and artistic director of her own ensemble Capella Sollertia. St. Matthew Passion was the very first, and highly acclaimed, concert by Capella Sollertia.

The collaboration with Johanna Soller marks the first time that the Bach Society will perform the St. Matthew Passion under the leadership of a female conductor.
