Swedish trombonist Ebba Åsman introduced herself with the critically acclaimed debut album ”Zoom Out” in 2019. Since the release she has toured all over Europe with jazz legend and mentor Nils Landgren, allstar funk collective Brooklyn Funk Essentials and her own project, just to mention a few. Now, three years after the debut, she is ready to release the much anticipated sophomore album ”Be Free” - an introspective project exploring, and expanding, what the next generation of jazz musicians will sound like.
Playing, exploring and embracing genres such as hiphop, soul, RnB and pop Ebba has created a unique soundscape, where her talent and expertise is perfectly balanced between jazz and the progressive sound of tomorrow. Ebba Åsmans upcoming album is called ”Be Free” and it is a reminder to free yourself from society limiting labels and boxes and trust yourself and your intuition. She started composing from her ears and heart and ended up including layers of choir, soundscapes, and put a lot of effort into creating the right atmosphere and developing the sound image together with her producers. As well as adding percussion, creating beats, mixing technology with the rawness of the acoustic instruments.
What might happen to this gold covered trombonist? ”Zoom Out” is just the beginning of a very interesting acquaintance.
