What to do during a lockdown? For soprano Katharine Dain, the answer was simple: host dear friend and brilliant pianist slash Brexit refugee Sam Armstrong. Those months together in Rotterdam-Zuid result in a debut album that not only received a lot of appraisal in reviews, but even Edison Award. It’s time for a follow-up, which they will start in de Doelen. Their new project center around the way to long overlooked song cycle by Lili Boulanger, Clairières dans le ciel. Dain and Armstrong combine this cycle with songs and piano compositions by Debussy, Fauré and – it might come as a surprise: Szymanowski.
