For over the last decades, string quartets have risen like mushrooms from the ground. One of the most prominent ones is the Ruysdael Quartet. Ruysdael excels in the ‘big’ repertory, but as well in the music of contemporary composers like Andriessen and Widmann. Therefore, they combine Widmann’s exciting ‘Jagdquartett’ with an early Beethoven quartet and Schubert’s renowned Der Tod und das Mädchen. Together, they seem to tell a story of a hunting party with a dramatic ending…
