“May is the final chord of the brilliant oeuvre of Louis Andriessen” – a final chord that only sounded for a small audience, due to COVID restrictions. Now the Orchestra of the 18th Century will perform this swan song of Andriessen, who died shortly after the premiere, for a large audience. Andriessen dedicated the composition to his deceased friend Frans Brüggen, the revolutionary recorder player and founding father of the Orchestra of the 18th Century. Therefore this concert functions as a double homage. And which composition suits this homage better than the Requiem, Mozart’s final and unfinished work.
