Climate change: a term that sounds quite innocent – ‘change’. While visiting the Dutch island of Vlieland, writer and philosopher Eva Meijer remarked that nature doesn’t merely changes, but disappears. She wrote a book in this, ‘Notes by a disappearing world’. Meijers texts are the starting point for atmospheric choir music, performed by a large choir and a minimalist ensemble. Birth of man as well as texts from the Quran, a prayer from the native American Ute tribe and the above mentioned texts by Meijer are put to music by Rotterdam based composer Aart Strootman. For a moment, we stand still and view a world that is disappearing.
