Maestras on the podium!

Claire Gibault, artistic director of the Paris Mozart Orchestra, is one of the founders of La Maestra, the first competition for female directors. The competition aims to promote and support the conductors in their professional careers. An important cause, because presently only 4% of all conductors is female, and not due to a lack of talent.

Gibault herself will conduct the first part of the concert, followed by La Maestra laureate Stephanie Childress. Pianist Saleem Ashkar concludes the evening with a performance of Beethoven’s Symphony No. 2.

In addition to Beethoven, and Stravinsky’s Pulcinella Suite, the program will of course feature a female composer. The Paris Mozart Orchestra will be performing Capricco a due, a 2013 composition by the Italian Silvia Colasanti.
