You just can’t miss with two Pulitzer Prize-winning compositions, performed by vocal group Roomful of Teeth!

Roomful of Teeth is no ensemble, but rather a vocal group, with a sound unlike anything you’ve heard before. They keep their music fresh and challenging by collaborating with a variety of composers. Her composition Partita for 8 voices, composed for, by and together with Roomful of Teeth, landed Caroline Shaw the position of youngest Pulitzer Prize-winner ever in 2013.

Several years earlier, in 2008, David Lang won the same award for his work The Little Match Girl Passion. The story by Hans Christian Andersen, about a girl that tries and fails to sell matches on the street, is set in the format of Bach’s Saint Matthew Passion. The suffering of the Little Match Girl has been substituted for Jesus's, and is commented on by a chorus. Through his new lyrics and music, David Lang hopes to elevate her sorrow to a higher plane.
