Celebrity harpist Lavinia Meijer and New York-born viola player, radio host and curator Nadia Sirota are excited to share music, stories and anecdotes by some of today’s key composers of classical music.
Following collaborations with Ólafur Arnalds, Philip Glass and Iggy Pop, Meijer continues her quest for new music and new musical partnerships, culminating in this ‘concert lecture’ featuring yMusic member Nadia Sirota. Sirota has been the New York Philharmonic Orchestra’s creative partner since 2018, and won the 2015 Peabody Award for her podcast Meet the Composer. Who better to represent contemporary classical music?
Featuring music by Nico Muhly, Philip Glass and Caroline Shaw, amongst others. What’s more, tonight sees two world premieres: a work composed specially for Meijer and Sirota by Ellis Ludwig-Leona and Ellen Reid, the latter of which will also be arranging a part of her Pulitzer Prize-winning opera p r i s m (2019).
This concert is part of the red sofa series. Available with the Red Sofa pass and also available separately.
