A fantastic coup for Rotterdam and ROAM! The much-celebrated version of Vivaldi’s beloved ‘Four Seasons’ concerto by the Scottish composer Anna Meredith is the closing event for ROAM 2019. This is the mainland première of one of the sensations of last year’s British new music scene.
Meredith leaves substantial parts of the Vivaldi intact, but by adding to, interspersing or processing the original composition with her own, creates a pulsing, upbeat and totally new sound. Thrill to the energy and drive of the original but see how Meredith and the top-notch Scottish Ensemble push the boundaries of Vivaldi even further.
Meredith herself is on stage, mixing and performing with the original strings. This mix of baroque idioms and today’s technology is riveting, something the listener won’t forget. Before the concert, a pop-up performance in the foyers with another ROAM Mystery Act!
ROAM passe-partout € 50 available at de Doelen box office or via firstname.lastname@example.org.
