ROAM: Daytime Showcases
12.00-12.30 | Arthur Wagenaar Netherlands
Arthur Wagenaar is a Dutch composer and musician with a deep love for rock, theatre, opera and classical music. His own music tends to mix all of it together. He also invents his own instruments, mechanical or electronic, such as the ‘Rampaphone’, a 9 metre long string instrument, the ‘Kleurwerper’, played by juggling. And then then there’s his CLOSE CALL LIVE app. In CLOSE CALL your smartphone is a musical instrument. Don’t just sit in the audience: be a musician in a crazy band with three drummers! Just download the special app CLOSE CALL LIVE and play along! But are you playing your phone, or is your phone playing you...?
12.45-13.15 | Ensemble HOPE France
Ensemble HOPE is dedicated to both the creation and performance of what they call ‘today’s music’. They do this in lots of ways, but the specialise in exploring new electro-acoustic technology, and integrating written musical traditions with improvisation and adapted classical repertoire. The ensemble’s drive to produce concerts is mirrored in their innovative use of instruments, and a tireless devotion to developing their presentation, often through masterclasses and workshops. A special approach, a special vision and a special sound to enjoy in this showcase performance.
