STATION REDEVELOPMENT AND FACELIFT
A major reconstruction of both the main line and metro stations in Rotterdam is currently in progress. Although both stations remain open during the work, some delays and inconvenience is unavoidable. The construction work also affects road traffic and routing in the vicinity.
The bicycle tunnel (Provenierstunnel) adjacent to the station was closed in May 2006. Cyclists are advised to take the Hofplein or the Statentunnel. Alternative bicycle routes will be clearly during the construction work. The new station will be ready early in 2010, and the Provenierstunnel reopened.
Pedestrians can continue using the present station tunnel (the Provenierstunnel) to walk from north to south and back. This tunnel also provides access to all station platforms until completion of the new station early in 2010.
